Influence of Rabbit Year on the Twelve Animals

Back to the Water Dragon Year

The Rabbit is the fourth archetype in the Chinese cycle of twelve. After a grueling Tiger year punctuated by high energy and sometimes earth shaking activity, the gentle Rabbit offers opportunities for restoration, renewal and harmony.

The Rabbit is impassioned by the pursuit of truth and excited by cutting edge discoveries that reveal the mysteries of existence. This is often expressed in a love of books, libraries, written expression and scientific investigation. For the Rabbit learning and understanding truth is a spiritual practice. In many ways this will set the tone for the coming year. You may find yourself inspired to pursue greater learning; especially having to do with your work or career. Metal rules the intellect and these pursuits are highly encouraged during this metal Rabbit year. Take that workshop or advanced seminar and you will be greatly rewarded. Most importantly remain focused on discovering deeper truths; both personal and global.

The Rabbit is about genuine human connection. Spend less time in front of your screens and portable devices and more time doing face to face connecting. Connecting is 3D not 3G; especially during Rabbit times

The Rabbit year is a powerful time for social events and gatherings. Get-together's with family and friends can be even more rewarding than usual; and even more so if the events take place in the home.

The message is simple. Real human contact is an essential part of our well being. Virtual communication is a poor substitute. The Rabbit year supports the real deal.

Contented by nature and gentle in bearing , the Rabbit takes the time to fully savor life's gift's.
Although capable of great speed the Rabbit will rarely be found rushing; even while pursuing many passionate goals. This sets the tone for calm, relaxed and less pressured times. In spite of the absence of pressure to perform, this can be a very productive and rewarding year. We can better succeed through mindfullness and attraction than through acquisition or aggression. Most importantly the focus is on complete appreciation of every experience.

When you think about what truly mattered in your day, you may realize that it was your appreciation of a small kindness offered to you or a warm smile from someone you know or someone you don't. Or it might have been something exceptionally delicious you tasted or a place of incredible beauty you happened into or a favored song heard in your car or your portable device. It is any one of these ordinary daily occurrences that can uplift and make a day extraordinary.

If you wish to be pro-active take matters into your hands by engaging in meditation, yoga, tai chi, qi gong or any activity that will center you and bring you closer to spirit.

All of this in encouraged especially during this Rabbit year.

The heavenly influence this year is Yin Metal, which sits over the Rabbit's fixed element Yin Wood.

The Rabbit's natural fixed element is Yin Wood; the second cycle of spring renewal and growth. Metal is the controlling element for Wood and Metal is sometimes said to clash with Wood. This combination may be interpreted as an indication of conflicts to come, but not necessarily. It can also indicates a time of creative stimulation. As metal attempts to control Wood, Wood continues to expand. The result is that Wood becomes fully engaged in its natural process of creation.

Indeed you can expect some focus on existing and emerging conflict, but at the same time that conflicts are coming to the foreground new and creative solutions become apparent. During this Rabbit Year, Choose your actions wisely and past and present conflicts can be resolved to the benefit of all.

The year that was……….

The Metal Tiger year has not been an easy one for many. As the top predator in his part of the food chain one of the Tiger's responsibilities is to weed out weakness in the natural order. The Tiger's methods are not subtle and can often seem unkind. In actuality the Tiger is the protector of sustainable and orderly functioning and a champion of justice in its most basic form.

Tiger times can put us in direct confrontation with our most challenging demons causing us to forgo formality and head directly to the core of what matters. With eyes set to the future and to the benefit of all, the Tiger does not mind trampling some vegetation in pursuit of essential goals. There is no room for ruffled feelings during Tiger times. There is only the need to ascertain what must be done and to move quickly to accomplish.

It may feel harsh at times and there is no minimizing the anguish that some have suffered during this Metal Tiger year. Our only choice is to pick ourselves up and move forward from wherever we stand.

Looking back at this Metal Tiger year, it is clear to see how much has been accomplished in a very short time. Gratefully we move forward into a new and gentler cycle; that of the Metal Rabbit.

The importance of achieving spiritual attunement is the Rabbit's most essential message

With attunement all that is possible in the manifested Universe becomes readily available. Attunement can be dynamic like the runner's rhythmic breath as he speeds on to raise his heartbeat; or it can be passive requiring quiet and solitude as we reach inward beyond the physical in search of our divinity. With attunement every experience is art, music and beauty. With attunement there is no need to force anything; the chaser becomes the allower and receiver. Harmony and inner peace are symptoms of attunement. Expressed individuality is another symptom of attunement.

The Rabbit smiles hopping happily along...............

It's no wonder that Rabbit is the sign of longevity.
