The year that was……….

The Metal Rabbit year has been a re-awakening, for some, of their gentler and more evolved selves. For others it has not been an easy year. The Year has been punctuated by outbreaks of violence, earthquakes,nuclear plant accidents, untimely and devastating weather, and ongoing global economic upheaval.

As we near the end of the Rabbit Year, we can gain a better perspective of the energetic possibilities of the cycles of times.

We begin with 2008 the year of the Rat; the first of the twelve cycles. Each of the cycles prioritize certain required actions. Rat times are a times for strategizing and interpreting the necessities of the times. The ground work is set up that will determine the course of the entire twelve cycles. The elections of 2008 brought us President Obama, a hard working Ox. A huge departure from previous elections and a change of course for national policies. Ox being in a six combination with Rat facilitated President Obama's victory. This year was also the year that that real estate bubble burst and the economy began on its downward spiral. Those responsible were involved in financial schemes that would line their pockets without regard for how it would affect anyone else.

The cycle of the Ox in 2009 is next. During Ox cycles the focus is the work at hand. If we are willing to do the work required we can be productive and advance in our lives.Some headway way was made through hard work. Unfortunately unsustainable choices that were made in 2008 led us down a path that will take some time to reverse.

Next is the Tiger year 2010. Visionary and spontaneous, Tiger years demand that we keep our eyes focused on the future while mobilizing our strengths to move things forward. Tiger years require an awakening in consciousness. The Tiger is rarely gentle in its methods. One of the goals, during Tiger years, is learning to remain in the present while being focused on the road ahead.

The Rabbit year that followed, is about higher learning, introspection and improving relationships. We are strongly urged to choose the higher moral ground. Strong penalties are imposed if we do not. This holds true whether we are dealing with a traffic infraction or with higher levels of corruption. We saw despotic regimes collapse after decades of tyranny. We saw powerful financial leaders who were previously untouchable brought to task.

As we move forward into the Dragon year it is most important to understand the priorities of the year. We are required to move into action bringing with us the lessons of the past four cycles. The difficult lessons are never intended to punish but rather to free us of the illusion of limitation. During this year when anything is possible and probable, we can fully stretch our Dragon wings and soar in any direction we choose.
