The
Dragon Meets -The Mayan Calendar
This
pivotal period in the history of the Cosmos has inspired prophecies
since ancient times. It is no accident that it takes place
during a Dragon year.
Four
Pillars and the Mayan Calendar are both based on cycles of
time. Although they utilize vastly different parameters for
interpretation, there are places on the wheels of time where
they intersect. The year 2012 is one of these places.
Predications
place the end of life as we know it in 2012. Some even more
specifically on the date of the Winter Solstice, December
21, 2012. Various sources predict with certainty that it will
be caused by one or more of the following events:

A
reversal of the Earth's poles that will in turn cause other
calamitous changes
-
The
planet Niburu coming very close to the Earth, upsetting
the gravitational field.
-
Major
solar flares capable of knocking out all communications
and electronics.
-
Collision
with a large asteroid or comet.
- The
return of extra-terrestrial coming to take back the planet they
once colonized.
- Rising
ocean levels caused by global warming that can flood all but
the highest points.
- Collapse
of the Global economy.
- and
a long list of natural disasters that include volcanic eruptions,
earthquakes, mudslides, giant hurricanes, ocean storms and tidal
waves.
Many
seemingly knowledgeable people are speaking of these occurrences,
and there is scientific evidence that backs some of these claims.
However, there is also scientific evidence that repudiates these
claims. This makes it difficult to ascertain whether it is science
fact or science fiction.
The
most compelling information, which is also at the core of the
prophecies, comes from the Pan American culture of the Mayas in
the form of a calendar which has been interpreted to predict the
end of times. The end is predicted to occur at the completion
of the 13th cycle or Baktu of this calendar and coincides with
December 21, 2012 on our Gregorian calendar.
But
even in the case of the Mayan calendar there is no definitive
proof. Archeologist studying the artifacts left by the Mayans,
will tell you that a crucial part of the remaining calendar stone
is missing. This leaves a lot up to speculation and interpretation.
In fact it is difficult to tell from the evidence. Is it predicting
the end of times or simply the end of one long cycle and the beginning
of another?
With
no definitive answer available I personally choose not to confirm
or deny any of the prophecies. Instead I prefer to examine the
possibilities from the perspective of the Water Dragon year.
Dragon
years are well documented for being years filled with dramatic
events. But theory are also documented as years filled with scientific
and medical innovation. They are also known for their pioneering
and courageous spirit. The typical Yang Dragon personality is
quick to throw caution to the wind for the sake of a worthy cause.
What
we have is a combination of powerful forces that combine and can
bring calamities or important changes. We will probably see some
dramatic earth and weather events but more importantly this is
a time that we can bring about changes that can set many things

If
we truly desire to change the world we must begin with ourselves
and the people we are closest to. This is where healing for our
planet can begin. Next we can then work outward for the sake of
causes we believe in that will make a difference. There so much
we as individuals can do even when we believe we are lacking in
resources. Energy has a way of expanding and multiplying itself
and making itself available to us when we apply the correct focus.
I
believe this is what this Dragon year demands of us. That we take
a deeper look at our own reflection and that we live in accordance
with our highest principles. That we become the embodiment of
what the great prophets and sages have been telling us since the
beginning of time; and to do this in a manner that is filled with
joy and enthusiasm. This is indeed a pivotal time and we hold
our destinies and the destiny of our planet in our own hands.
